Mrs. Stephanie Schafer
Stephanie Schafer joined the BCS staff in 2018 as the Head of School. She spent her entire life in sunny Southwest Florida. After much prayer, her family knew that God was calling them to Charleston, West Virginia to be part of Bible Center School and Church. Stephanie received her B.A. in Communication from Palm Beach Atlantic University and her M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University. She has been part of Christian education for 16 years as both teacher and administrator. She has been married to her husband, Joey, for 15 years and they have a son, Dylan, and daughter, Halle. Stephanie loves leading the staff and students at Bible Center School as they fulfill God’s agenda for each of their lives.
Mrs. Emily King
Emily grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Word of Life Bible Institute and then graduated from Appalachian Bible College where she met her husband, John. They have served with ministries in Argentina, Florida, Ohio, and California. It was during their 5 years in California that Emily fell in love with the Special Needs Ministry. While there, she was able to serve as the volunteer coordinator/ administrative assistant for the ministry. At Bible Center, Emily previously served as the administrative assistant for Family Ministries and as the Director of our Special Needs Ministry at Bible Center Church. Emily and John have 3 girls: Allison, Alana, and Abigail.
Mr. Ted Williams
Dean of Students & Middle School Bible
Ted graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Biology and has 15 years of teaching experience at the middle and high school levels. He is currently obtaining a Masters degree in Theology. His favorite subjects to teach have always been Science and Bible. Ted is an ordained minister and has served as a school chaplain, youth pastor, missions pastor, and pastor to college students in Florida. His passions are teaching Biblical worldview and mentoring students. He and his wife, Ashley, have 2 children, Jackson and Macie. They are all native Floridians. They felt God calling them to join the Bible Center team in 2018 and made the long journey north. Ted loves the natural beauty of the mountains and enjoys exploring this “wild and wonderful” state.
Miss Christy Corbin
Middle School Supervisor, Math & Study Skills
Christy has worked at Bible Center since 2011. She taught middle school math for three years, then transitioned to the church staff for four years. She returned to the middle school in 2018, where she enjoys teaching the math and study skills classes.
Christy was born and raised just outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Being the daughter of a teacher, she had a desire to teach since she was a little girl, and her middle and high school teachers fostered her love for learning and math. She attended Bob Jones University and earned her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics education. Christy taught for 14 years in South Florida and WV before coming to Bible Center School. Christy loves her dachshund, Watson, and enjoys baking and volleyball.
Mrs. Machelle Huffman
Machelle joined Bible Center Preschool in 1993. She was a 4-year-old teacher for 23 years and Transitional Kindergarten teacher for 1 year before taking on the role as Director in 2017. Machelle graduated from West Virginia State College with a degree in Education. She and her husband are involved in youth ministry at their church. Machelle is the mother of 2 daughters, both of whom attended Bible Center School. She is also Gigi to 2 active grandsons and she loves to spend time with them!
Mrs. Cindy Clark
Preschool Assistant Director
Cindy began working at Bible Center Preschool in October of 1983 under its very first director, Jean Darlington. Over the years she has served in many roles, including Aide, Teacher and Administrative Assistant. In 2010 she became the Assistant Preschool Director. Cindy and her husband, Roger (maintenance staff at the school), have 6 children and 16 grandchildren. Cindy has seen many children come through the doors at Bible Center, who are now grown, sending their own children to BS. She believes each child who has ever come through the doors of the Bible Center has been by God’s design and that it’s our responsibility to help nurture the potential within each of them.
Pastor Dick Riffe
Pastor Richard Riffe (or Dickie, as he’s affectionately known to most of us) has been attending Bible Center since 1965. In the early years, he taught Sunday School and worked in AWANA, each for 18 years. In addition, he has served as a Deacon, Elder, and Maintenance Chairman. Pastor Richard, also known as “Coach” to many, has lead church-league sports and currently coaches Bible Center School basketball. He has also assisted with the church Care Ministries for many years. A graduate of Liberty University (Biblical Studies), Pastor Richard is licensed in the state of West Virginia. He and his wife, Anna, have been married for 48 years and have two grown children.
