A Note From Mr. Bacchus

It is hard to believe that we have completed 3 nine weeks of school.  We are so excited to see what the Lord has done at BCS this year.  RUSH week was a great time where we focused on service and serving others.  There are many stories from classrooms about conversations that were guided by service, and Acts 1:8 is a verse that can continue to encourage us to focus on serving others.  We have many things coming up and this is always a busy time of year.  As we continue to look towards the 2016-2017 school year pray with us that God will prepare BCS for a great school year.

RUSH Week Update

We just completed our second annual RUSH (R U Serving Him) week. During this week, we focused on Acts 1:8 which says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Each morning we did a short activity to go along with this verse. This year, we partnered with the Crossroads Pregnancy Center of Charleston, a Christ-centered ministry that aims to help families through the life changes and challenges of pregnancy before and after the child is born. Our goal was to collect 5000 diapers during Rush Week and 250 packs of wipes. We are excited to report that we collected 8,690 Diapers and 338 containers of wipes!! Thank you BCS families for your support! What a blessing this donation will be to the Crossroads Pregnancy Center.

Pi Day

Pi day is Monday, March 14th and students will enjoy a reward for participating in the Xtra Math contest in the RIM at 1:00pm! The winning class from each grade level will be able to have a student/teacher put a pie in Principal Bacchus’ face. Those students who completed division will also get their own pie to put in Mr. Bacchus’ face, in addition to their classroom. Check out the Pi Day photos!

BCS Open House

Parents, we are now enrolling for the 2016-17 school year! Please help us spread the word! The BCS Open House will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 6:30 pm.  This is an opportunity for anyone interested in attending BCS to tour the school and meet Principal Bacchus and staff.  If you know someone who is interested in attending BCS but cannot attend the Open House, they may also call the school office or email Nancy Keefer to schedule an appointment for a tour.

Additionally, just a reminder that we mailed out re-enrollment packets to all of our current BCS families in January.  We hope that you received your packets, but if for some reason that you did not please let us know.  Early enrollment will end on April 4th for the discount.

Box Tops Contest

We are excited to announce our upcoming Box Tops Contest!  The student who brings in the most box tops from March 14 through April 18 will get to be the “Principal for 2 Hours” for one day of the week following the contest.  On Pi Day, Jolene Wise, our box top collector, will pass out box top contest forms to the students to take home.  This will be a fun contest for the students and a great way to earn money for BCS.

Each Box Top earns $.10 for our school. BCS may earn up to $20,000 cash per year from the Clip program. BCS received a check in December for $529.60 from the Box Top program, and we are set to receive another check in May for over $900.00! As of our February 29th tally, we have collected a total of 10,158 box tops this year. Mrs. Ramey’s class is still in the lead with 1,796 box tops collected, but Mrs. Bacchus’ first grade class is now gaining a close second with 1,449! Thank you for your help in supporting BCS – keep those box tops coming!

Get On Board!

We are excited to announce that BCS will offer bus transportation for BCS students along Route 119 South for the 2016-17 school year. We will offer two bus stops.  The first stop will be at Six Mile (pick up/drop-off is 7:00am/3:45pm).  The second stop will be at Stevens Auto (pick up/drop-off is 7:15am/3:35pm).  Other stops may be added if necessary along Route 119 South.  The fee is $975 per year (both ways) or $487 per year (one way).  If no one is at the bus stop to pick up the student when the bus arrives to drop off in the afternoon, the student will return to the school and will need to be picked up from aftercare.

If you would like to make a donation to help with the purchase of our new school bus, please visit the BCS website and click on the “Transportation” tab, and then the “Donate Now” tab. The money donated will go straight to our annual fund which is geared toward helping the school purchase big items that tuition costs will not cover. Thank you so much for your support.

Moms In Prayer

Poozie Null, a BCS parent, has graciously offered to help lead a Moms in Prayer group and she is still looking for participants. The group would meet one morning a week directly after school begins in the school’s conference room. The group’s purpose is to pray that our children will receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, then stand boldly in their faith; to pray for teachers and school staff; to pray that teachers, administrative staff, and students would come to faith in Jesus Christ; to provide support and encouragement to moms who carry heavy burdens for their children; to pray that our schools will be directed by biblical values and high moral standards; and to be an encouragement and a positive support to our schools.  If you are interested in joining Poozie to pray for BCS students and staff, please contact her at poozienull@hotmail.com. More information about Moms in Prayer International and the materials that the group will use during the meetings can be found at www.momsinprayer.org.
